Noémie Hu

Noémie Xiao HU has a double background in bioengineering (B.Sc., UClouvain, Belgium) and chemical engineering and biotechnology (M.Sc., EPFL, Switzerland). She has explored energy-related technologies throughout her studies (catalysis, battery materials, carbon capture) in order to understand the role of technology in the sustainable transition. She is passionate about strong sustainability and bringing that concept into engineering.

Noémie started her PhD at EPSE in 2024, under the call "Integrating a Circular Carbon Economy into the Energy Transition." In her research, she models and assesses pathways for the transition of the chemical industry using optimization methods and advanced sustainability assessment tools. She is part of the SWEET reFuel.ch program, which aims to "develop robust and practical pathways for introducing sustainable fuels and platform chemicals to markets and the Swiss energy system using an inter- and transdisciplinary approach."
