Additional information

Shaohan Chen received her bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics at Jimei University in China.

In September 2014, Shaohan started working as a Ph.D. candidate at the School of Mathematical Science at Zhejiang University under the supervision of Professor Chuanhou Gao and Professor Nikolaos V. Sahinidis (at Georgia Tech). She aimed to design novel machine-learning methods for small-data learning problems by leveraging transfer learning, feature selection, and knowledge integration techniques. In June 2022, Shaohan defended her dissertation “The utility of transfer learning in feature selection with its applications”.

Since November 2022, Shaohan has been a postdoc in the Energy and Process Systems Engineering Group at ETH Zurich, managed by Professor André Bardow.
